How to Transfer Your License, Tags, and Voter Registration in Lee County
If you’ve just moved to Auburn, Opelika, or anywhere in Lee County, Alabama, here’s a quick guide to making your move official—with the least amount of stress possible.
📍 Driver’s License Transfer:
You’ll need to update your driver’s license within 30 days of establishing residency. You can do this through the Lee County Probate Office or the DMV on Pepperell Parkway in Opelika. Appointments may be required, so check ahead online.
📍 Vehicle Tags & Registration:
To transfer your tag or register your vehicle, go through the Lee County Revenue Commission. Whether you’re moving from another Alabama county or out of state, they’ll handle your title and tag changes.
📍 Voter Registration:
You can update your voter registration at the same time you change your license or by visiting the Lee County Courthouse in downtown Opelika. Alabama makes it relatively easy if you handle everything in one trip.
🚗📋 Don’t stress—I walk all my relocation clients through this process and even send direct links to save you time.
