Auburn, Alabama Welcomes International Soccer: Argentina vs. Iceland Coming to Jordan-Hare Stadium
Auburn, Alabama is known around the country for Auburn University, Auburn Tigers football, Toomer’s Corner, and one of the most passionate college sports fan bases anywhere. Now, Auburn is about to add another major sporting event to its growing list of attractions.
For the first time in history, Jordan-Hare Stadium will host an international soccer match when world champion Argentina takes on Iceland on June 9, 2026, as part of the “Road to 26” series leading up to the FIFA World Cup. The match is expected to bring thousands of visitors to Auburn and place our community on an international stage.
International Soccer Comes to Auburn University
Jordan-Hare Stadium has hosted countless memorable Auburn Tigers football games over the years, but this event will be something completely different.
According to Auburn Athletics, the match between Argentina and Iceland will be the first international soccer game ever played inside Jordan-Hare Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m., and the event is expected to attract fans from across the United States and beyond.
Argentina enters the match as one of the most recognized soccer programs in the world and the reigning World Cup champion. Iceland has also become a popular international soccer story over the past decade, making this a unique matchup for sports fans throughout the Southeast.
