Living in Auburn Alabama: Blessing on the Corner and Pep Rally
Living in Auburn Alabama means experiencing traditions that bring the university, downtown businesses, local leaders, families, students and longtime residents together. The Blessing on the Corner and the spirited pep rally that followed at Toomer’s Corner offered a wonderful example of that community connection.
Held in the heart of Downtown Auburn, the gathering included a blessing, a ribbon cutting and plenty of Auburn spirit. Aubie, the Auburn University cheerleaders, local children and members of the community gathered at one of the most recognizable places in Auburn, Alabama.
Living in Auburn Alabama Includes Traditions at Toomer’s Corner
Toomer’s Corner sits at the intersection of Downtown Auburn and the Auburn University campus. It is more than a well-known landmark or a place people gather after an Auburn victory. It is also a community meeting place where Auburn’s university traditions and small-town character come together.
During the Blessing on the Corner, community members paused to reflect, give thanks and recognize the people and traditions that make Auburn special. The ribbon cutting added a celebratory touch, while Aubie and the Auburn cheerleaders helped turn the morning into a lively Auburn pep rally.
The cheerleaders led several familiar Auburn cheers, including “It’s Great to Be an Auburn Tiger,” as children and adults joined in. These are the kinds of moments that allow new residents, Auburn University families and longtime locals to experience the personality of the community firsthand.
Auburn University Spirit Extends Beyond Game Day
Auburn football weekends receive plenty of attention, but Auburn spirit is not limited to what happens inside Jordan-Hare Stadium. It can be seen throughout Downtown Auburn—in the decorated storefronts, orange-and-blue clothing, local restaurants, Auburn merchandise and people greeting one another with “War Eagle.”
Events at Toomer’s Corner help connect the excitement surrounding Auburn University with the businesses, families and residents who make up the larger Auburn community.
For someone considering moving to Auburn, Alabama, an event like this provides a glimpse of everyday life beyond houses, streets and neighborhood boundaries. Location matters, but so does the feeling of the community surrounding your home.
Choosing Where to Live in Auburn
Different parts of Auburn offer very different living experiences. Some buyers want to be close to Downtown Auburn, Toomer’s Corner and the Auburn University campus. Others prefer a quieter neighborhood with more space, newer construction or easier access to Opelika.
Before choosing a home, it helps to consider how you want to experience the area:
• Do you want to walk to downtown restaurants and Auburn events?
• Are Auburn University or Tiger Transit access important?
• Would you rather live away from game-day activity?
• Are you buying a primary residence, an investment property or a game-day home?
• Do you want an established neighborhood or a new-construction community?
Those lifestyle questions can be just as important as bedrooms, bathrooms and square footage.
