They Actually Bought It! Life After a Haunted Home Inspection

Ever wonder what happens when buyers actually decide to purchase a home rumored to be haunted? As a realtor in the Auburn and Opelika area, I’ve imagined this scenario more than once—especially after my recent comic, “The Haunted Home Inspection.” Here’s a fun look into what might happen next.

Picture this: It’s a sunny moving day, and I’m handing over the keys to enthusiastic buyers, thrilled by their new home’s charm and history. Meanwhile, my cautious sidekick, Hans, my lovable (yet slightly timid) mastiff, keeps a watchful eye—from about 20 feet away. He knows a thing or two about boundaries, especially when it comes to houses with mysterious reputations.

As soon as we step inside, the lamp in the entryway flickers—just once—enough to raise a few eyebrows. The buyers exchange nervous smiles, wondering if it’s just an old bulb or something more playful. Hans gently reminds them from the safety of the doorway, “Looks like your ghost friend is already making itself comfy.”

Moments later, we all pause as a faint creak echoes from upstairs. I confidently reassure everyone, “It’s just the house settling,” but Hans gives me his best skeptical look from behind my legs. Whispering loudly, he adds, “Or it’s your invisible roommate moving furniture!”

As we step outside, Hans swiftly retreats to his favorite safe zone—my car—with the windows cracked just enough for him to keep tabs on the situation, comfortably away from any ghostly shenanigans. Clearly, Hans prefers his adventures less supernatural.
