Did You Walk Up This Hill in Heels Too? Sorority Rush Throwback at Auburn University
Sorority Rush at Auburn University is here again—and y’all, the memories just came flooding back.
I was out walking today and passed that hill between the Quad and the Hill dorms. You know the one. The one that separated where you lived from where you rushed. The one that mocked your high heels with every step. 😂
And it hit me—how in the world did we hike that hill in full hair, full makeup, and the most impractical heels known to woman? But that was part of the journey. And if you rushed in the ’80s or ’90s like I did, you know exactly what I’m talking about.
Back in 1988, I was rushing for Alpha Omicron Pi, and I recently found our old AOII pledge class photo and roster. Thinking about putting together a video throwback—because let’s be honest, nothing says “I survived Rush” like a group photo, a blistered heel, and a story about that hill.
A lot has changed on campus—the AOII house is gone, sorority housing looks different, and new academic buildings line roads we used to cross in matching dresses and nerves. But the excitement, anxiety, and sisterhood? That hasn’t changed a bit.
