Donald E, Davis Aboretum in Auburn AL
The Donald E. Davis Arboretum is one of the most beautiful places in Auburn. For more than half of a century, people have enjoyed the Arboretum. It is free and is open 365 days a year from sun-up to sun-down. I am sharing a few photos in this post from my most recent visit to the aboretum. It is one of my favorite spots in Auburn.
- The Arboretum is approximately 13.5 acres with over two miles of walking trails which are easily accessible for strollers. The Arboretum also has over 500 feet of frontage along College Street.
- Auburn’s Arboretum is the only SEC garden to have two nationally-accredited collections: Oaks and Native Azaleas.
- The Arboretum is tasked with displaying the native and rare plants of Alabama and the Southeastern United States. The Arboretum’s main collections are its oaks, native azaleas, pitcher plants, and trillium.
- The Arboretum is instrumental in the safeguarding, propagation, and conservation of the rare and endangered plants of Alabama. The core of the Arboretum’s mission is to educate the community on the benefits of native plants, the importance of conservation, telling the important story of Alabama’s biodiversity, and demonstrating the best management practices of storm water management.
