“I am an upcoming 9th grader and have dreams of becoming an Engineer one day and hope to attend Cornell University. Although I know this is a very lofty goal and it feels impossible without the love, support, kindness and generosity of others it is a dream that I know in my heart I must pursue. I’d rather look back at my life and say “I can’t believe I did that” instead of saying “I wish I did that.”
I am challenging myself on many levels in an effort to better prepare myself for the pursuit of my dream. I am actively serving my community in volunteer work in local Vacation Bible Schools, museum programs and the humane society. I am also hoping to become a volunteer at our local hospital soon. I also am working hard to participate in the local STEM (academic disciplines of science, technology, engineering and mathematics) programs to be better prepared to realize my dream of becoming an engineer.
My ultimate goal of becoming an engineer is that I will be in a position to give back to the community and throughout the world. One organization that has really captured my attention is Engineers Without Borders (EWB) which is a non-governmental based organization that serves the needs of the disadvantaged communities and people all over the world through engineering projects.
However, without the generosity and support of kind people like YOU that would like to see me succeed it will be just a dream. Although my mother works tirelessly to provide opportunities to assist me in succeeding she is a single mother with limited financial means. Our good intentions can only take me so far. I am not afraid of hard work and look for ways to volunteer my time to serve others, but in order to give back I have to have a door opened to walk through and take the first steps. If you can find it within YOUR heart to help me in my goal please know that each and every donation whether large or small is greatly appreciated. I do not have the words to say thank you enough.
I have started this account early in hopes that I will be able to realize my goal of raising enough money for tuition to attend Cornell University and become an engineer. The cost of tuition is a barrier for me at this time without YOUR support. Should I be so lucky to surpass my goal than all proceeds will be donated to another worthy person that needs help in reaching his/her goals in obtaining a quality education.
